Disease FROZEN SHOULDER
   
Definition Characterized by pain in and around the shoulder, with pain and restriction of active and passive movement of the joint. May last for weeks to months but complete recovery is usual. Presents with generalized shoulder tenderness and there could be varying degrees of deltoid and spinatus atrophy. Found oftener diabetics, thyroid disease and cardiopulmonary conditions.
   
Treatment Moist heat, USW diathermy, ultra sound heat paracetamol, or NSAIDs for pain.
Active and passive physiotherapy maneuvers
Steroid/Lidocaine infiltration into the subacromial space and joint
Rarely manipulation of shoulder under anesthesia, that is very helpful in severe cases.
After an episode, regular shoulder exercises help avoid recurrence.
